F.A.Q. - Frequently Asked Questions
Print Graphics & Printing $ ?
Q: What are your business card prices for the design work, printing and delivered?
A: The standard full-color printed business card is 2" x 3.5" on sturdy card stock with both sides in full color and aqueous-gloss finish on the back (handy for those desiring to place an appointment or other notes area on the back which can be written on with a fine-point Sharpie® permanent pen). Previously, I only accepted orders of 2,500, which keeps the price per card far more reasonable than doing less. However, I now break it down for your choice below. By the way, the 2,500 count lasts clients an average of 2 years before they re-order.

Web Graphics $ ?
Q: What is your basic pricing for photo editing or image creation for web use?
A: Banner ads and other web graphics are on an hourly basis (100$USD), unless ordered in bulk of 20 or more images. Digital photo retouching is also available.
Web Site Design $ ?
Q: What is your basic pricing for designing a small 12-page showcase web site for me?
A: I usually charge a base fee of 2,600$ for designing the primary dozen pages.
EXAMPLE: www.MartaRose.com - Compensation value could initially have broken down to perhaps 2,600$... that would be around 200$ for obtaining her requested domain name, first year of hosting and an hour of consulting time for relaying content building guidance and sharing ideas; 600$ for a draft of the primary page and adapting your logo for the site; 300$ for processing images up to two-dozen images/photos for general web use and/or photo gallery use; 200$ for the design for layout of secondary pages; 100$ each for content loading and editing of the dozen pages. And at least 100$ for final after-thoughts-editing... when site has been posted live on the Internet. NOTE: I primarily used Adobe Photoshop and ImageReady along with Macromedia's Dreamweaver for building and maintaining this example site. On the second year, Marta has exercised the Maintenance option mentioned above for planned expansion (additional pages, text and photos).
Q: What is the basic cost of a more involved e-commerce web site (for selling items)?
A: This would likely be 5,000$ as a base for the first few-dozen pages and much would depend on your choice of host and what shopping cart and payment features they were able to support and you were willing to obtain.
Web Site Maintenance $ ?
Q: Can you manage my web site and edit it for me as needed?
A: This is more likely and more easily done if I built it. And it can be edited for an hourly fee of 100$ with the understanding that this is a low priority project. Or to place it on my desk as a high priority, a retainer of 2,000$ per year or agreement of 200$ monthly (2,400$ annually) with a minimum year to year contract would include an average of 3 hours per month for editing content and/or posting fresh images. Anything over the annual retainer of 36 hours is will likely be accepted at a further reduced rate of 50$ an hour.
EXAMPLE: MartaRose.com - Second year updates and expansion beyond the initial dozen or so pages are being covered by a Maintenance agreement. (see initial base breakdown above)
Presentation Graphics (built with MS PowerPoint) $ ?
Q: What does it cost for a Powerpoint presentation?
A: 100$ down for the opening two pages and 75$ an hour after, with your provided content.
Traditional Airbrush Illustration $ ?
Q: What is your basic charge for airbrush illustrations with inks or dyes or paints?
A: The illustrations shown are to showcase background skills (texture effects, subject variety). At this time, I am not offering Traditional Airbrushing, except under special circumstances and the level of fun. And as it is no longer my focus, it may take a special offer and extremely fun project to entice me into pulling my equipment out and refreshing specific supplies.
Q: Why are you semi-retired from airbrush painting.
A: There are about 20 Elements I feel are best to have lined up for a successful project - sometimes they are not very portable. Comparatively, digital graphics work with Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Dreamweaver and other slick computer programs are so much cleaner and often times very portable for doing digital airbrush retouching or illustration. Whereas automotive airbrushing usually takes a clean professional garage, just for starters. However, human body painting is making an amazing comeback from the fairly basic late-sixties styles, and it is now moving to new levels of advertising and other art. Except for "time", the elements needed are more portable to back-stage, beach, photographer's studio, etcetera, it is still fairly portable, but still not as much so as work via laptop computer.
To give you a closer look at the varied factors involved in airbrushing... The surface, size and proposed location may be widely varied (i.e.: Automobile, Semi-Trailer, Boat, Signage, Building Facade, Hardhat, Welder's Hood, Silk Shirt, Human Model or even on smaller canvas such as fingernails). The type of pigments and additional materials needed would vary too (Automotive may need primer, paint, tints, reducers/thinners, clearcoats, flex-additives, pearl-additives, metallics and more). ...Then there is the travel itself and possible work location costs. This all varies greatly before bringing up the design and surface preparation.
Then there is airbrush-style etching, which I sometimes do on glassware and such... air-erasers are like tiny sand blasters, but usually using aluminum oxide dust to etch artwork into hard surfaces.
If you are in a rush or have a tight budget, there are talented people to be found now in a fast web search who likely do exactly the kind of airbrushing you have in mind.
Contract - Artist, Researcher, Sourcing by Position or Project
Q: Would you consider a project doing _______ in the country of _______?
A: Feel free to contact me with details and ask. :)
Etceteras
Q: Do you finance printing or other graphics work?
A: I'm not in the finance business because I'm not good at playing bankster. So to keep your costs down, I ask for 50% Down to start the draft and remainder upon your OK of the final art (in low-resolution), before sending the art to press and/or delivery of hi-resolution art.
Q: Do you ever consider any alternative compensation other than United Stated Dollars ($)?
A: Yes, part of how I manage to move around the globe with consulting on various interesting projects is due to having people or corporations send travel tickets, alternative accommodation plans and other such creative needs meeting. The printers and hosts I have so far used, seem to most often want US Dollars or Euros to cover their products or services. There are almost always a few things that just seem to come easier with use of US Dollars, Eastern Caribbean Dollars, Euros, Swiss Franks, Slovenian Tollars, and many other notes of recognized trade value, depending on where I might be. Yet, in general, I find United States Dollars (USD) and American Liberty Dollars (ALD) or a combination of those, the easiest to work with. So, now it is my turn to ask the question... What is your idea?
Q: How do I ask you (Tim) additional questions possibly not covered here?
A: Please visit the Contact Page and write or call and leave a message. New clients are not being taken now, except by referral or personal invitation. Please also note that as I am very busy on various projects, my specialty is not last second orders at this time.
