They would be a promotional giveaway item at the Traders Expo in New York, etc.

These slim little Card Radios needed to show company art or logos before being presented to each by a representative of the Hong Kong manufacturing company. Some were used for claw game vending machines, customer giveaways, incentive gifts and other promotions.
