Wayne Research LLC welcomes you to Tim's archival AstroGrafix web site!
Timothy has retired from the digital graphics industry. However, he plans to have Wayne Research (WR) investigate alternative products and services to better assist former clients and new visitors with various projects. WR expects to add a Resource Page for people who wish to be made aware of great replacements for the services he formerly provided.
About 2005, Tim took a leave of absence from doing commercial arts and Information Technology (IT) work (two industries often intertwined). He returned to the Pacific Northwest and extended college classes for a couple of years ... with the idea of figuring out what he wanted to be when he grew up (something most friends and family agree he'll probably never do, if he hadn't done by the time he was 50 years of age). Tim simply seems to enjoy a spice and variety of life adventures beyond most. Art and IT work are more like hobbies than jobs to Tim, although the former has been a large part of his life for a few decades. ;-)
Now (July 2010) at the current age of 55, he is attracted to the idea of returning to more traditional airbrush art (that means more analog or "real" airbrush illustration over that of digital pixels). He used to do "real" airbrushing back in the early 1970s (mostly on vans, racecars and signs) and has also taught classes on Airbrushing and Masking Techniques.
What's next? Timothy is teaming up with WR for documenting his venture into fine art while teaching the elements of traditional airbrush... something Tim taught before the Internet.

WR has been enlisted to help Tim journal his return to airbrush arts with videos and a Checklist of Steps, Tools and Materials, as he demonstrates his step-by-step personal revival of his own skills on a new site to be called Airbrush123...
- Dusting off the old airbrushes and tuning them up
- Choosing from the 3 major types of airbrushes to practice with initially (syphon, gravity-fed, turbine)
- Acquiring a new or used airbrush (mostly for those without their own dusty airbrush or with one lost in their garage somewhere)
- Choosing from the 3 major categories of "colors" (paints, inks, dyes)
- Fun practice project using only black on white to warm up (no skills needed on the viewer's part for any of these steps, if done in order)
- Fun practice project with white on black (reversed from the first practice project) with attention given to positive, negative, and neutral
- Fun practice project with 3 primary colors from the beginner's economical and easy-to-use color category
- Advancing quickly from the basic 1, 2, 3, into Timoteo's 22 Elements of Successful Airbrushing, for even more serious fun!

Tim has painted with all 3 types of airbrushes with all 3 categories of colors onto a multitude of surfaces (metal, wood, rawhide, fabric, paper, frosted cakes, children's faces and more). Yet, rarely has Tim allowed himself to venture out onto canvas. And he wishes to eventually do true airbrushing on large canvases within a few months of getting re-familiarized with the tools and paints. Look for the live link to appear here in the next few months so that you may join him on this new fork in the path.
In the interim , the AstroGrafix.com web site is here at this time more as an archival site with the plan to turn it into a more informational site to lead former clients, family and friends to products or services that may replace the services he provided in the past. And again, he has turned this web site over to Wayne Research LLC to find those replacements and manage the site to free up his time for his airbrush projects.
Thank you for your understanding! We trust you'll find Timo's AstroGrafix web site a more useful place to visit in the latter portion of 2010 and beyond.
Thank you very much for stopping by,
WAYNE RESEARCH LLC, on behaf of the artist, Tim/Timo/Timoteo (Timothy Oldfield)
PS: Timothy has taught classes on airbrush and masking to college students and others in decades past. And he is planning to re-teaching himself and others via the Internet beginning this fall of 2010. With that in mind; the rawhide drum above will likely be a project covered with first-year students, and the cutaway view of the Chevy small-block engine will likely be just one example of something more advanced students can look forward to further down the road in more advanced classes.
PPS: Archived ASTROGRAFIX site is still below at this time. |
